The latest trailer for the anticipated South Park: The Stick of Truth game was released today, which shows our heroes entering the Giggling Donkey pub seeking the Bard. In classic South Park fashion, Butters is timid, Kenny plays along, and Cartman is needlessly but hilariously vulgar. The team finally finds the Bard, played by Jimmy, in the pub’s basement, when they are thrown into battle against the Bard’s elves. The animations looked just as if they had come from the show, and the combat options and dialogue were riddled with comedy. If you’re a long-time fan of the series, then there are some gems in there that you’ll definitely appreciate. Perhaps what’s more interesting, though, is that at the end of the trailer, a delayed release date for the game is shown. (more…)
The development team behind the highly anticipated new IP from Ubisoft, Watch_Dogs, has made an announcement just minutes ago confirming that the title has been delayed until Spring 2014. The game was set to launch as a day one title for the next generation of consoles, as well as our current generation Xbox 360s and PS3s. This to many of us, comes as unwanted news, as I can say that us here at GV2 were counting Watch_Dogs as one of the ‘flagship’ titles to usher in the next-gen hardware, and was definitely one of our most anticipated games this holiday season. Here is the official announcement from Ubisoft’s development team: (more…)
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is just three weeks away, and today Ubisoft announced what gamers will get if they buy the game’s Season Pass. Right off the bat, any AC enthusiast who needs to have all DLC for the game will net a 20% savings with the pass, over buying each DLC pack individually. The Season Pass will include additional multiplayer skins, extra weapons and missions within the campaign, and most notably it will come with the Freedom Cry DLC. Now it is time for Adewale to bring vengeance to those who work in the slave trade. See the emotional trailer for this new DLC campaign below, and get ready to head back into the Animus on October 29th. (more…)
Since its announcement, the status of South Park: The Stick of Truth has been a roller coaster of a story. Hype started right away, with the promise of a South Park game which resembled an episode right out of TV. However, when its publisher, THQ, unfortunately filed for bankruptcy, the project was purchased by Ubisoft Montreal. While this acquisition saved the title from being swept under the rug, it did put a delay on the game’s launch to market. In recent months, Ubisoft has stated the game would launch by Christmas, but today we finally have a concrete release date as well as the details surrounding the contests of The Grand Wizard Edition of the game. Just to sweeten the pot, a new trailer debuted today, entitled Destiny, explaining the player’s role in this adventure game. (more…)
Just yesterday at the Tokyo Game Show, developer FromSoftware and publisher Namco Bandai gave us a brand new trailer for their upcoming sequel, Dark Souls II. In that trailer you will be taunted, or urged to “Go Beyond Death”, their new slogan that plays on the previous slogan of “Prepare to Die”, used for the first game. The setting appears to be what you would expect from a Dark Souls sequel: grim, bleak, dull shades of colour, and pretty much everything else they can think of to make you feel depressed and alone. Excited yet? (more…)
For months, hype has been building around the newest installment of the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto 5, and it appears that it has paid off. The game’s developer, Take-Two Interactive, is reporting that the title has made over $800M in revenues in the first 24 hours of being on shelves. Not only is this the fastest grossing GTA title, but Take-Two is stating that this is the fastest selling title in the history of their company. While previous first-day sales record holders belonged to the Call of Duty franchise, it’s a breath of fresh air to see a new title take the throne. (more…)

Ubisoft has been thinking outside the box with regards to marketing their upcoming title, Watch_Dogs, and everything seems to come back to tie-in with the mobile app, Watch Dogs Live. Today it was announced that Dedsec has stolen a car with a cash-bribe in the trunk, and parked it over a gas pipe. Users are urged to turn to their Watch Dogs Live apps to help build the gas pressure under this car, and to blow this dirty money to kingdom come. With only 48 hours to go, the clock is ticking get your hand in to make this a bigger boom. The reveal video states that there is also a camera placed within the car, as to capture the explosion in all its glory. Check out the cryptic video below to find out how you can get involved. Microsoft has officially announced the full day one launch lineup for the Xbox One at Gamescom 2013 today. There are a whopping 23 titles to break your bank this November, ranging from a few lesser known titles to the huge AAA titles we’ve been hearing so much about. So far Microsoft has not divulged the launch date, as many expected them to do during their conference, so we’re still stuck with the generic November date they gave us at E3 2013.
So let’s say you wanted to buy every launch title, you know, for bragging rights; how much would that set you back? Well, for those of you without a calculator handy (let’s forget about the fact that the computer, tablet or phone that you’re viewing this on is a giant computer in itself), you’d be looking at spending $1379.77 plus taxes, assuming the cost of each game was the industry standard $59.99. All this on top of the cost of the console itself, gold membership, and any other accessories you may want. No problem right? Thought not. (more…)
Everyone’s favorite magician, or at least some people’s favorite magician, has been confirmed as the latest DLC character for the alternate DC Universe fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and is shown off in all her magical glory in this gameplay trailer. Within it you will see all her moves and a good taste of what kind of combos you can expect to try and master, counter or defend against. Her abilities definitely play on her magical side, which make her look like quite the interesting character. A good change of pace from your standard fighting game fare. Check out the trailer below for yourself and see.
Zatanna is the latest in a long line of DLC characters for Injustice, showing that developer NetherRealm is definitely backing their new franchise with everything they’ve got. This is nice to see considering that Injustice has only sold approximately 1.3 million copies world wide, which is roughly only 30% of what their 2011 hit, Mortal Kombat, managed to sell (4.24 million copies to date).
